Scottish Epilepsy Initiative

Substantially Increases Funding using eTapestry

Scottish Epilepsy Initiative was founded in 2003 with the purpose of supporting the 54,000 people in Scotland who are living with epilepsy, as well as increasing awareness and understanding of the issues which may affect people with the disorder.

  • No specific fundraising activity took place in the early years, however the board received several large corporate donations, which meant that vital work could begin.
  • Several years later, the Board identified the need to create a team who would be responsible for establishing a fundraising strategy and generating an income for the charity.
  • A fundraising consultant was brought on board to ensure the team were starting off on the right foot.
  • One of the first things the consultant recommended was to implement a fundraising database to manage activities such as events, donors and funding applications.

  • eTapestry was recommended to Scottish Epilepsy Initiative and, after evaluating its capabilities the charity was keen to begin working with the system.
  • eTapestry was perfect for Scottish Epilepsy Initiative as it is particularly relevant for small and start-up organisations due to its ease of use, flexibility and affordability.

  • Fundraising efforts at Scottish Epilepsy have grown rapidly since the organisation began using eTapestry and staff can now manage all activities through the system.
  • All donors and prospective donors are tracked within eTapestry, as well as trust applications, events and appeals.
  • Staff can easily access accurate records on all activities and see at-a-glance results at any stage in an appeal, application or event.
  • Income has almost tripled and eTapestry has played a major part in this, effectively managing a growing list of initiatives for raising funds.
