Executive Leadership

Blackbaud is led by a diverse management team with a broad base of business experience in commercial and nonprofit software and services. The management team provides strategic and operational direction to the company’s 2600 employees working in six countries.

Michael Gianoni

President & Chief Executive Officer, Blackbaud Inc.

Michael (Mike) Gianoni

Mike joined Blackbaud as its president and chief executive officer in January 2014 and oversees the strategic direction of the company. Prior to joining Blackbaud, he served as executive vice president and group president, Financial Institutions Group at Fiserv, Inc. (Nasdaq: FISV), a leading global provider of financial services technology solutions. He previously served as president of the Investment Services division at Fiserv, where he was responsible for product, technology, sales, finance, operations and strategy. Mike joined Fiserv as part of its acquisition of CheckFree, where he served as executive vice president and general manager of CheckFree Investment Services. He spent 11 years at DST Systems Inc. where he led various divisions focused on developing new platforms while ensuring stronger operational controls. Earlier in his career, Gianoni worked at Applications Systems Group, Sequent Computer Systems, Wang Laboratories, U.S. Design Corporation and Canberra Industries. Gianoni received his associate degree in electrical engineering at Waterbury State Technical College, his bachelor’s degree with a business concentration from Charter Oak State College and his masters of business administration degree from the University of New Haven. David Benjamin

President, International Markets Group

David Benjamin

David Benjamin is President of Blackbaud’s International Markets Group, overseeing European, Australian and New Zealand operations. David is a seasoned executive with decades of leadership within the technology, telecommunications and media sectors. Prior to joining Blackbaud in the spring of 2018, David served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Box, a cloud content management platform for businesses, where he oversaw their Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) market. Under his leadership, the business achieved record revenue and customer growth through expansion in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

David previously spent nearly a decade as Vice President of Global Services at British Telecom (BT), where he also achieved notable growth in their cloud, mobile, and digital services, and 12 years at Guardian Media Group, where he served, among other leadership roles, as Divisional Chief Operating Officer. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus on strategy and finance from The Manchester Metropolitan University, and graduated with honors from the London Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Arts in European Business. David combines his expertise and passion for empowering nonprofits by supporting the conservation of the Royal Parks and donating to The Bike Project.

Michael Savitz

Chief Operating Officer - International Markets Group

Michael Savitz

Michael joined Blackbaud Europe in early 2012, serving as interim Finance Director and then head of Financial Planning and Analysis for the International Business Unit. During that tenure, he also served as interim General Manger for the Peer-to-Peer business unit before becoming General Manager for the Core Markets in June 2015. Michael hails from Virginia, and enjoys World War history, backpacking, and music.


John Bird

John joined BBE in February this year to head up the newly formed P2P Team. Previously John was MD at thankQ, arch rival to Blackbaud, where he took the product from a new market entrant in the year 2000, to one with almost 300 NFP customers by the time he left. In 2012 he oversaw the acquisition of thankQ by the Access Group for £2.7m. John has a maths background and started out as a database developer, which as a manager means he has a need to understand the underlying data and processes that make the business tick. With that knowledge in place, he can empower his team by giving them focus and confidence of what is needed and let them get on with delivering it.

Jen Lucas

Jen Lucas joined Blackbaud in 2013 and is responsible for product management of our Internet Solutions portfolio across Europe, with a key focus on online peer-to-peer fundraising solutions. Working with customers across all major verticals, Jen is determined to ensure Blackbaud delivers best-of-breed online solutions to help charities better achieve their goals. Jen has a strong background managing online portal solutions including online research tools for LexisNexis and a white-label social platform. Jen holds a BCom (Hons) in International Business from McGill University.

Dan Keyworth

Dan joined Blackbaud in November 2014, in a new role created to help our customers best manage the opportunities and challenges in modern university fundraising and relationship management – including by more effectively utilising systems, data and technology to achieve their goals. Prior to Blackbaud, Dan was part of the Executive Team within the University of Oxford's Development Office, where he oversaw Europe’s most advanced higher education fundraising database, DARS, a collegiate-wide platform built on Blackbaud CRM®. Dan also played a significant role in Oxford Thinking, the largest fundraising campaign in European higher education history, including oversight of regular giving and legacies fundraising.


Nigel Crymble

Nigel joined Blackbaud in September 2014 and is responsible for the Blackbaud CRM product across Blackbaud’s International Business Unit. An Accountant by profession, Nigel spent 10 years implementing ERP Solutions into Small to Medium Sized Enterprises across Europe before helping to found, and eventually lead, the Not for Profit Team at Ciber UK. Nigel has designed and implemented Fundraising and Service Delivery solutions for some of the UK’s largest charities, and is looking forward to bringing the benefit of that experience to the world’s most popular solution for enterprise sized Charities and Higher Education organisations. Nigel holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Ulster.
