with Microsoft Vista (BB263240).
- The Raiser's Edge 7.81 is compatible with SQL Server
2005 Service Pack 1 (BB204458).

New in 7.81: Set up Personal Security Rights
After updating to version 7.81, you must set personal information
security options for each security group. These settings determine
the rights group members have to view and edit personal information
such as National InsuranceNumbers, credit card numbers, and
bank account and insurance policy information. Here's how:
- In Administration, select Security.
- Open the appropriate security group.
- In the Group Privileges frame, mark Personal Information
Security.
- Click Options.
- On the Security Options screen, mark the appropriate
checkboxes:
- Personal Information Data Entry: A user can
add, edit, or delete personal information but cannot
view it after saving it or outputting it (e.g., in
a report or export).
- Personal Information Output: A user can output
personal information but cannot add, remove, change,
or view it on records or in Batch.
- Personal Information View: A user can view
personal information on records and in Batch but cannot
add, remove, change, or output the information.
- Credit Card Report: This option allows credit
card numbers to be printed on the Credit Card Report
in Batch. If the option is not marked, the credit
card numbers are masked.
- Click OK and save and close the security group.

recommendation for personal information best practices?

Improve Search Results with Wildcards
Wildcards are special characters you can use to search for
records and to identify records in queries.
- Use the question mark to replace a
single character in the name of the record. For example,
to look for constituents named either Smyth or Smith,
search using Sm?th.
- Use the asterisk to replace a series
of characters. For example, to find anyone with a name
ending in son, type *son.
- Use brackets to query on a range of
characters or to locate several characters. For example,
use the criteria Last Name Begins with [A-C] to locate
all records with a last name beginning with A, B, or C.
When using the brackets with a comma between characters,
you are searching for records with only the values listed.
For example, the criteria Last Name Begins with [A,F,G]
selects all records with a last name beginning with an
A, F, or G.
You can find this information in Knowledgebase (BB44191)
when searching by How to use wildcards.

Microsoft Vista and The Raiser’s
Edge 7
The Raiser's Edge 7 has undergone extensive testing with
Microsoft
Vista throughout its beta and release process. We have
identified some compatibility issues with the release version
of Microsoft Vista and are making changes to address them.
We will complete further testing to ensure product compatibility.
At this time we anticipate being compatible by the end of
February. Do not install Microsoft Vista until compatibility
has been confirmed.
We will update the system
recommendations and Knowledgebase solution BB263240
when compatibility is confirmed.
For more information on how we test operating systems,
review Knowledgebase solution BB59871.
Always refer to your product's system
recommendations before purchasing new hardware and installing
or upgrading third-party software.
