Blackbaud Conference 2010

The Arts and Cultural Track

The price is right - Tim Baker, Director, Baker Richards Consulting Ltd

Tim Baker of Baker Richards will ask if we are getting the maximum income potential from ticket sales. Do ticket prices reflect the true value of the products on sale and are discounts being offering to the very customers who are most able to pay?  Tim Baker will look at ways to adjust prices in response to actual sales patterns.

‘Google it’ - Chewy Trewhalla, Google

Join Chewy Trewhalla, Google’s New Business Development Manager, as he discusses the latest news on Search Engine optimisation, YouTube, Maps and Google Grants. Even if you consider you are non-technical, this session will show you how to make these accessible and relevant for your organisation.

Making The Patron Edge Part Of The Fabric of Theatre At The Mill - Susan McCleary, Sales and Marketing Manager, Newtownabbey Borough Council, Theatre at the Mill

Susan McCleary and Robert Fleming, technical consultant for Blackbaud, will give you practical online tips for these difficult economic times. Using The Patron Edge, in less than 1 month this new theatre created an efficient 21st century Box Office System, as well as designing and building a website which matches the fabric of the theatre (and not a second, add-on website). Within 6 months, this has generated on average 30% ticket sales online, without hefty website or consultancy fees. The session will show the simple steps which implemented this and how, by using the correct data, you can make informed decisions to develop your audience. In these economic times, everyone needs practical online and audience development tips – you just can’t afford to miss this.

Digital Media and the Arts - Charlotte Wilson, Audiences UK Project Manager

There have been profound changes over the last decade in the way people engage with technology. To understand the implications for the arts, Arts Council England, worked with MLA and Arts & Business, on the development of a significant research programme to understand the relationship between people’s engagement with, and attitudes to, digital media. The research has identified different types of the online population based on their consumption of arts and culture and the way they engage with digital entertainment. Audiences UK has fed into the research by representing regional audience development agencies and have now been asked by Arts Council England to disseminate the findings.  Charlotte Wilson of Culture Sparks is Audiences UK‘s project manager. At this forum, Charlotte and a representative from Arts & Business will present the key findings of this research and consider how further developments in the digital world will affect consumption in the future.
