The Government has made its commitment to freeze Gift Aid for the next three years - an announcement that was welcomed by the Institute of Fundraising.
But, what are the day-to-day implications for organisations that run a Gift Aid scheme and are looking to safeguard the income from audits and penalties?
Blackbaud has invited The Institute of Fundraising and HMRC to present their opinions on these most recent announcements, what they mean on a practical level for organisations claiming Gift Aid and advice on how to prepare for an audit. While its primary objective is to advise you on managing and making the most of your Gift Aid claim, the seminar is intended to be an interactive one, allowing time to engage with speakers and network with sector peers as you wish.
We will also spend a short time to present Blackbaud Gift Aid which was developed after consulting with HMRC and as a result the solution complies with the requirements of the Gift Aid scheme.
We have three seminars in plan, details of which are below:

Previously, Megan was Policy and Development Manager at Alone in London, a charity that focused on supporting vulnerable, young people at risk of homelessness in King's Cross as well as four years at Daycare Trust where she developed the policy, campaigns and media management functions of the organisation to ensure that the organisation led a high impact campaign around the affordability and accessibility of childcare and the development of integrated children’s centres.
Megan has extensive experience of lobbying and campaigning in the context of high profile Government agendas.
Simon Hart/Ian Gledhill, HMRC. Simon will be presenting at London and Bristol, and Ian will be presenting at Manchester. Both Simon and Ian have extensive experience and knowledge of the Gift Aid scheme and resulting audit process and procedures. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC) uses Blackbaud Gift Aid
“We wanted to manage our Gift Aid claims in a more easy and effective manner; both in terms of recording Gift Aid circulation and managing the actual documentation itself. We are also able to make a claim in a much more timely way,” says Laura Shobiye, head of business support at GOSHCC..."We definitely have a much clearer picture of the donations we can and can’t claim Gift Aid on. And if we need to know at any point in time how many Gift Aid donations we have, we can do that.
"The Blackbaud Gift Aid auditing process has also allowed us to undertake a strategic approach with those who did not sign the declaration. As a result we have been able to plan specific communications that encourage commitment to this source of income."
