PCI Compliance The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements developed by the major credit card companies to enhance credit and debit card data security. From 1st October 2008, all organisations that require new merchant IDs will have to demonstrate PCI compliance or use applications that adhere to these standards. By 1st July 2010, all organisations that process, store, or transmit payment card data must follow the PCI DSS requirements or will risk losing their ability to process credit card payments.
